Clann Eireann win North Armagh Feile, Report & Photo
|
Clann Eireann 1 – 13 Clann Na Gael 1 – 7
Last Saturday, at Eire Og, Clann Eireann U14’s won the Feile for the first time. It was a well deserved victory for a team and substitutes who have been very disciplined and dedicated in their training during the last two months.
Playing against a strong wind, the young Clann Eireann team were always going to be on the defensive for the first thirty minutes. However, the defence were able to cope with anything that came their way. The tackling was exemplary and the workrate, especially epitomised by the midfield and defence, was immense.
Trailing by eight points at half-time, Clann Eireann realised that they would have to raise the level of intensity in attack if they were going to lift the trophy. Immediately, the forwards played with more flair and imagination. The direct ball was used to good effect and eventually the scores materialised.
It is unfair to mention any individual footballer on this occasion as the victory resulted from a tremendous, spirited team effort. What is more important is that this team approaches each game with the proper attitude and every member wants to continue to learn and to develop.
Team Aidan Lavery, John Turbitt, Jonathan Creaney, Aaron Clarke, Aaron Casey, Shea Heffron, Donal McGibbon, Christopher Johns, Oisin Magee, Luke O’Neill 0-1, John Magee, Jack Wilson 0-1, Declan Heaney 1-4, Niall O’Neill 0-6, Conor Lavery. Substitutes: Johnny Torode 0-1, for Conor Lavery.
