GAA All Star awards for Clann Eireann

Clann Eireann have been awarded GAA Handball All Star Club of the Year, at a ceremony held in Croke Park on the 8th June 2013. The club’s flag bearer in the USA, Charly Shanks, was also deservedly awarded International All Star Player of the Year, after a season which seen him secure the World Number 1 spot on the professional circuit R48 follow. A phenomenal achievement for all involved and the awards pay testament for years of hard graft on the courts as well as off them!

The club sent a delegation to GAA headquarters to watch the Christy Ring final and have dinner with the president of the organisation Liam O’Neill, followed by the presentation of All Star awards.


The club have been producing champions for decades and coaches and players from all generations should take pride in what is arguably Clann √Čireann’s greatest ever achievement. The 2012 year seen the club become the most successful club at the World Championships winning 10 World Titles.

The club also brought back 5 Runner-Up  World Titles. On top of this the club also won 5 One Wall National titles, 2 Ulster titles in the Cumman na mBunscol, 1 All Ireland title in Cumman na mBunscol, 7 Ulster Championship titles, 2 All Ireland Championship titles, 2 Ulster Colleges Titles, 1 All Ireland Colleges title, the Division 1 Feile champions, U15 female Champion and Runner up of the Golden Gloves competition.

Clann Eireann also lay claim to the most successful player at the World Championships, Niamh Coleman coached by provincial All Star coach Pedsy McMahon.
Well done to all involved for cementing the club in GAA history and bringing the Clann Eireann name to the forefront of sporting achievements in club county and province!
