Mixed fortunes for Seniors and Reserves

Date: 19 Jul 2010 / Category: Football / Views: 111

The Seniors travelled to league leaders Ballymacnab on Friday evening, hoping to continue their recent impressive run of form, five away wins on the bounce. The first half was a close, cagey affair with little to choose between the two sides at the break, the home team just edging in front 0-7 to 0-5. Clann Eireann pulled one back straight after the resumption of play but then suffered a major setback when Ballymacnab goaled in a somewhat fortunate manner. The goal spurred the home team on and the visitors found it increasingly difficult to penetrate their defence. Ballymacnab notched up some impressive points and when their second goal came, with about 15 minutes left, the game was put beyond Clann Eireann's reach. The visitors did battle to the end with Danny Shanks, Mark Beattie, Conor Bell and Declan Leathem trying hard to peg back Ballymacnab but the home team ran out comfortable winners in the end.
Result: Ballymacnab 2-12 Clann Eireann 0-9
Next up is a rearranged home fixture against promotion rivals Armagh Harps (Sun 25/07/10 @ 2.00pm)
The Reserve team responded to their recent Championship exit in emphatic style with a stylish away win to Sarsfields. Paul Brady was the player that caught the eye in a resounding victory; Sarsfields 0-9 Clann Eireann 3-10 .
