Clann Eireann Ladies are celebrating a double championship win. Last Wednesday the Minors overcame their neighbours St. Peter’s to land the County Minor Championship, the first since 2005. The following Saturday, at the Athletic Grounds Armagh, the Senior Ladies emulated their younger club members by lifting The Marie Hoye Senior Championship for the fourth year in a row, defeating Carrickcruppin Ladies.
The Minor match was played in very windy conditions. St. Peter’s played the first half with the strong breeze at their backs and there was little between the two teams at the interval, Clann Eireann edging in front by three points. As the two teams turned round for the second half, Clann Eireann now had the wind advantage. Right from the restart they went on the attack and within the space of a few minutes had bagged two goals and two points to put eleven points between the two teams. St. Peter’s tried hard to reduce this deficit, scoring a couple of goals of their own but Clann Eireann were not going to lose this lead and in the end they ran out winners on a final score of Clann Eireann 5-15 St. Peter's 2-7

The Seniors, holders of The Marie Hoye Cup, faced first time finalists Carrickcruppin in the senior final on Saturday evening. The first quarter laid the foundations for a Clann Eireann victory. Right from the start, Clann Eireann set about stamping their authority on the game. The county players led the way. Their experience of past finals and county games shone through as they quickly settled into the game. It wasn’t until the closing ten minutes of the first half that Carrickcruppin started to show their worth as they forced their way into proceedings and forced Clann Eireann back. Nevertheless, Clann Eireann ended the first half with a substantial lead. The second period witnessed a more determined Carrickcruppin and this half, in contrast to the first, was much more even but Clann Eireann Ladies held on to finish comfortable winners on a final score of Clann Eireann 2-18 Carrickcruppin 1-9
