CAMOGIE
Shore Road Girls Win Derby
Clann Eireann camogs came out on top over their neighbours Clan na
Gael. This was the girls first league match of the season. Both teams played with strength and competitiveness. Clann Eireann being the stronger side.
Nicole Morrow and Eimear O'Neill at midfield provided the full forward trio of Niamh Hughes, Aoife McConville and Niamh Coleman scoring chances.

Among the many, Niamh Hughes created a pass for Niamh Henderson to rattle the Clan na Gael net. The Clann Eireann defence was outstanding,
especially captain Niamh Haughian, Niamh McCarthy, Louise Moore, Fionnuala Quinn. It was an entertaining game for all to watch. Well done to all the girls and hopefully this form will continue throughout the rest of the league. Final score: Clann Eireann 5-0, Clan na Gael 0-0.

Team: Niamh Haughian, captain, Chloe McCrory, Niamh McCarthy, Ursula Hamill, Fionnuala Quinn, Louise Moore, Ciara Laverty, Nicole Morrow (1-0), Eimear O'Neill (10), Aoife McConville, Aimee Kerr, Megan Marshall, Niamh Hughes (3-0), Niamh Coleman, Niamh Henderson, Clodagh McCambridge, Aisling McKavanagh, Niamh Quinn.

Clann Eireann played Maghery in their second league game. The team had a superb first half display which held Maghery scoreless. The visitors tried hard to score but Clann Eireann's defence were too strong. Another excellent display from Niamh McCarthy, Sinead Magee, Louise Moore and Fionnuala Quinn.

The ball stayed for the majority of the game with the Clann Eireann forwards and midfields. Midfielders Nicole Morrow and Eimear O'Neill provided the forwards. The centre half forwards again were brilliant, they drove every ball into the full forward line of Aoife McConville, Niamh Henderson and Aisling McKavanagh. The forward line all worked hard and had strong threat in every position.

Success For Camogs In Primary Tourney
CLANN Eireann participated at the Clan na Gael Primary Camogie Tournament. A total of 22 girls from the club played in the competition. The tournament was played in good conditions and some excellent camogie throughout. Clann Eireann were entered into both the 'A' and 'B' section. All the girls displayed excellent camogie skills and the determination was great. It was a great success and enjoyable for all to watch.

Young Niamh Henderson and Ashleigh Fleville worked well together in gaining the scores. Niamh McCarthy did her usual, excellent displays in the back line. Midfielder Eimear O'Neill is getting more determined and enthusiastic, her skills are improving all the time. The young Shore Road girl played brilliantly and held the team as a whole. Unfortunately this time the 'A' team didn't come out as the winners. They came in third place with a deserved win for Tullysaran.

The 'A' section included Niamh Henderson, Niamh Hughes, Niamh McCarthy (one to watch out for in the future!), Fionnuala Quinn, Eimear O'Neill (C), Niamh Henderson, Aimee Kerr, Ashleigh Fleville and Louise Moore. The scorers of the tournament were: Ashleigh Fleville 4-0, Niamh Henderson 2-0. After the Section A groups played the 'Puc Fada' was held and our Niamh McCarthy tops the lot to win overall. A fortnight ago this same team participated in the Tullysaran camogie tournament.

Again the team played to their full potential. The Shore Road girls reached the final, they came runners-up again, a strong Tullysaran side. All the girls came home with their runners-up medals. There was great news for one of the Clann Eireann defenders, Niamh Hughes, who was voted as the player of the tournament.

In the 'B' Section the Clann Eireann girls won every match played. This is a young team to watch. A lot of excellent talent in each individual. The team included: Grainne Hughes, Shannon McPartland, Dara Thornton, Clodagh McCambridge, all of these defenders played really well. The teamwork and determination of these young girls was second to none. The midfields of Niamh Quinn and our captain, Chloe McCrory, displayed the most excellent groundplay and tackling in camogie. Everyone at the tournament were talking about the duo.

Their forward line included: Emma Magee, Aoife McConville, Niamh Coleman, Ellen Creaney, Danielle Toman and Sarah McConville. Again each girl played fantastic. The scorers of the day were: Aoife McConville 2-0, Chloe McCrory 4-0, Emma Magee 2-0. Great performances from the players, who in the end followed their captain, Chloe McCrory, to receive their medals. Another great honour was when Niamh Quinn was named as the player of the tournament, and well-deserved too, after her superb display. Young Niamh Coleman came in second place at the 'B' Section 'Puc Fada'.

The Clann Eireann camogs are going from strength to strength. This is the first year any of these girls have held a camogie stick and played competitive games. They all deserve a lot of praise for their commitment and determination that they have shown and are still showing. The teamwork of these youngsters and displays have been fantastic.

Their success that they have achieved has been fully deserved. These bunch of girls came sec¬ond in the league. Hopefully these group of players can go from strength to strength and bring more underage titles back to Lurgan. The girls are still training away.

The numbers are still rising. The Clann Eireann girls are now coming together and having a few fundraising ideas for the camogie club, to raise more money for sticks, helmets etc.
